Many customers have a budget and will tell me that they want us to mow their grass every two weeks. That isn't the best way to tend to your lawn. Grass is a living thing that responds to the environment.
The frequency of mowing depends on several factors, including the type of grass, weather conditions, if you are using fertilizer, and the season. For most grass species, it is best to mow once a week. This helps maintain the most desirable height for your grass, promotes growth, and keeps it well-kept.
There are exceptions. Some grass types may require more frequent mowing if they grow rapidly, while others may need less frequent mowing if they grow slower. If you are actively fertilizing your lawn and there is an increase in rainfall, you may need to mow more often. During periods of drought or extreme heat, it's advisable to adjust your mowing schedule to avoid stressing the grass further. In cooler seasons, you may find that you can mow less often, perhaps every two weeks or even less frequently, depending on the growth rate of your grass.
Remember, it's important not to cut more than one-third of the grass blade's height in a single mowing session. Cutting too much can shock the grass and lead to unhealthy lawn.
Consistency is key to maintaining a beautiful lawn, so keep an eye on your grass and adjust your mowing schedule accordingly.
Please comment and let me know how often you or your lawn care company mows your lawn.
